Walk Right, Talk Right: How Your Words and Actions Reveal Who You Really Are
Share
How You Walk and How You Talk Are the Same Thing
There is a common assumption that words and actions are separate — that what you say is one thing and what you do is another. But Scripture does not treat them that way. And neither does lived experience, if you pay close enough attention.
How you walk — how you move through the world, how you carry yourself, how you show up in relationships and challenges and opportunities — is a direct expression of what you believe. And what you believe is shaped, more than most people realise, by what you consistently say. Your walk and your talk are not separate things. They are expressions of the same inner reality.
This is why SIIB — Speak It Into Being — is not just about words. It is about the alignment between what you declare and how you live. Walk right. Talk right. Not as a performance. As an expression of who you actually are and who you are becoming.
What It Means to Walk Right
Walking right is not about being perfect. It is about direction. It is about moving through life with intention, integrity, and faith — making choices that are consistent with who you say you are and who God says you are.
Ephesians 4:1 puts it this way: "I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called." The calling comes first. The walk follows. You do not earn the calling by walking well — you walk well because you know the calling you carry.
This is the SIIB sequence: you declare the identity, you believe the identity, and then you walk in it. The declaration is not the end — it is the beginning. It sets the direction. And then your daily choices — how you treat people, how you respond to pressure, how you steward your time and resources — are the walk that follows the talk.
What It Means to Talk Right
Talking right is not about being articulate or eloquent. It is about alignment — making sure that what comes out of your mouth is consistent with what God has said about you, your life, and your future.
Jesus said it plainly in Matthew 12:34: "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." What you say reveals what is in your heart. If your heart is full of fear, your words will carry fear. If your heart is full of faith, your words will carry faith. Talking right, then, is not just a discipline of the mouth — it is a discipline of the heart. You cannot consistently speak life if your heart is not being renewed by the Word of God.
This is why the SIIB practice is not just about repeating declarations. It is about building a life in which the Word of God is so deeply embedded in your heart that it naturally overflows into your speech.
When Your Walk and Your Talk Are Out of Alignment
Most people have experienced the gap between what they say and what they do. You declare you are a person of faith — and then panic when things go wrong. You confess abundance — and then make every financial decision from a place of scarcity. You speak identity — and then shrink back when the moment comes to step into it.
This gap is not hypocrisy. It is the normal experience of a person in the process of becoming. The declaration is ahead of the reality — and that is exactly where it should be. Faith always speaks before it sees. The walk catches up to the talk over time, as belief deepens and identity is established.
The problem is not the gap. The problem is when you stop speaking because of the gap. When you let the distance between your declaration and your current reality silence you. That is when the gap widens instead of closes.
Keep talking right. The walk will follow.
The SIIB Framework: Aligning Your Walk and Your Talk
Step 1: Know What You Are Declaring
You cannot walk in alignment with a declaration you have not made. Start by being specific about who you are and who you are becoming. Use the Be Like series as a framework — choose the biblical character whose identity resonates most deeply with where you are and where you are going. Declare it. Write it down. Make it concrete.
Step 2: Speak It Before You Feel It
The declaration comes before the feeling. Before you feel like a Fire Starter, declare it. Before you feel like a Dream Keeper, declare it. Before you feel like a Lion Tamer, declare it. The feeling follows the declaration — not the other way around. Speak it in the morning. Speak it when doubt rises. Speak it when circumstances contradict it.
Step 3: Make Choices That Are Consistent with Your Declaration
This is where the walk meets the talk. After you have declared your identity, ask yourself: what would a Fire Starter do in this situation? What would a Knowledge Seeker choose? What would a Peace Warrior say? Let your declaration inform your decisions. Over time, this practice closes the gap between who you say you are and how you actually live.
Step 4: When You Fall Short, Return to the Declaration
You will not always walk in alignment with your declaration. You will have days when fear wins, when old patterns resurface, when the gap feels impossibly wide. On those days, do not abandon the declaration. Return to it. Confess the failure honestly to God, receive His grace, and speak the declaration again. The declaration is not invalidated by your imperfection. It is the anchor you return to.
Step 5: Let Your Environment Reinforce Your Declaration
What you see shapes what you believe. What you wear shapes how you carry yourself. The SIIB range exists for this reason — so that your declaration is not just something you say in the morning and forget by midday, but something that is visible on your body, in your space, in your daily environment. Wear your identity. Let it be a constant, visible reminder of who you are becoming.
Walk Right, Talk Right — As a Way of Life
The SIIB principle is not a morning routine. It is a way of life. It is the ongoing, daily, deliberate practice of aligning what you say with what you believe, and what you believe with what God has said, and what you believe with how you live.
Walk right. Talk right. Not because you have arrived. But because you know where you are going — and you are choosing, every day, to move in that direction.
Your Declaration for Today
"My walk and my talk are aligned. What I say, I believe. What I believe, I live. I am not performing — I am becoming. I walk in the identity God has given me. I speak the truth He has declared over me. Today I choose to walk right and talk right — not perfectly, but intentionally. I speak it into being."
