  Melanin is a natural skin pigment. Melanin is a molecule that functions as the body's built-in UV protection. Everyone, regardless of skin tone, has melanin molecules in our skin. In fact, hair, skin, and eye colour in people and animals, mostly depends on the type and amount of melanin they have.  Special skin cells called melanocytes make melanin. There is a long way to go to ensure that melanin-rich people and communities are treated equitably in all contexts, have equal access to opportunities and services and to ensure that  wellbeing is uncompromised daily.
