What it is

Bernard is an angel. He has been given a list of thirteen people whose lives have quietly organised themselves around fear — a failing Etsy shop, a message read forty-one times, a conversation rehearsed for four days — and an instruction: visit each one, drain the anxiety out of them, and collect it in a jar.

Bernard is doing his best. Bernard is not, on balance, very good at this. He turns up unannounced with the good biscuits, sits down in your kitchen, and agrees out loud with the thing you are most afraid of. Then he asks the question nobody else asks — not will it happen, but what happens after.

It is funny. It is honest about anxiety in a way most books are not. And it is built on Philippians 4:6–7 without ever once telling you to calm down.
